Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin and Three Harbors Council Boy Scouts Partner for Annual ‘Scouting for Food’ Food Drive

February 25, 2025

In support of the 1-in-6 children in Eastern Wisconsin facing food insecurity, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin has once again partnered with the Three Harbors Council Boy Scouts of America, Tri City National Bank, and the Kiwanis Club of Milwaukee for the 2025 ‘Scouting for Food’ food drive taking place on Saturday, March 15. ‘Scouting for Food’ is a single-day, multiple-county food drive in which Three Harbors Council Boy Scouts and their families collect nonperishable food donations from residents in multiple neighborhoods throughout Milwaukee, Kenosha, and Racine counties.

Households in participating neighborhoods throughout those three counties will receive door hangers on their front doors on Saturday, March 8 with specific instructions on how and what to donate. To donate to ‘Scouting for Food’, residents in each participating neighborhood should place nonperishable food items outside their front door on the morning of Saturday, March 15 before 9:00 a.m. CST for collection. In 2024, the Three Harbors Council Boy Scouts collected over 50,000 pounds of food for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, which was sorted, packed, and distributed to food pantries, meal programs, and shelters throughout Southeast Wisconsin.

“We believe that everyone can help out in ways big and small to solve hunger,” said Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin President and CEO, Patti Habeck. “The efforts of Three Harbors Council Boy Scouts and every resident in Southeast Wisconsin who is generous enough to donate nonperishables will go a long way to helping families in Eastern Wisconsin who are currently facing hunger.”

Organizers for ‘Scouting for Food’ expect hundreds of Scouts from dozens Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha County packs and troops to participate in the March 15 collection. Recommended nonperishable items to donate to ‘Scouting for Food’ include peanut butter, canned fruits and vegetables, canned meat, tuna, macaroni and cheese, canned soup, pasta, and cereal. Those who want to contribute to the food drive may also bring nonperishable items to their neighborhood Pick ‘n Save or Metro Market stores and place them in labeled Boy Scout collection barrels at the front entrance.

“Scouting for Food is a long-standing tradition for Three Harbors Council, going all the way back to the 80’s,” said Three Harbors Council Scout Executive and CEO, Andrew Hardin. “As Scouts, we know how fortunate we are to have a warm meal every night, whether around the campfire or at the kitchen table, and we know that not everyone is so lucky. In partnership with Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin and our local pantry partners, Scouting for Food is a reminder that Scouts are out in our communities making a positive impact every day.”

Financial support for ‘Scouting for Food’ is proudly provided by Tri City National Bank.

“Scouting for Food is an incredibly impactful event,” said Tri City National Bank Chief Brand Officer, Nick Bandoch. “Not only does it help feed our neighbors, but it provides an opportunity for our youth to give back to their community. We thank Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin and all those who will volunteer their time or donate to the cause, for ensuring this year’s Scouting for Food is another great success.”
