Combat Hunger Drive Raises Over 49,000 Meals for Veterans
May 29, 2025

On May 22, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin hosted its 7th Annual Combat Hunger food and funds drive, in partnership with Woodward Community Media. This community-driven event is dedicated to supporting local veterans facing hunger, and thanks to the generosity of hundreds of donors and local partners, the results were nothing short of incredible!
With help from the community and the on-air support of Woodward Community Media’s six radio stations – 105.7 WAPL, 95.9 KISS FM, Razor Wisconsin, 104.3 The Fuse, WHBY, and The Score WI – 2,820 pounds of shelf-stable food and $11,670 in monetary donations were collected. These contributions will provide an estimated 49,030 meals for residents of Wisconsin Veterans Village in Appleton.
Wisconsin Veterans Village is a vital resource in Northeast Wisconsin, offering not just housing, but support services that promote stability, connection, and renewed purpose for local veterans. The facility features 48 fully renovated apartments and is located within walking distance of critical resources, including the Veterans Clinic, Fox Valley Veterans Council, and Tri County Dental.
The heart of Combat Hunger is simple: to provide food, dignity, and hope to the brave individuals who have served our country. Every meal donated through this event helps ensure that veterans in our community do not have to face hunger alone.
Special thank you to event sponsors TDS Fiber and Jack’s Maintenance, media partner Woodward Community Media, and Pick ‘n Save.
Together, we’re honoring service by fighting hunger. And together, we’ll continue to ensure that those who’ve sacrificed for our freedom receive the care and support they deserve.
