Places Like This Are a Godsend

October 7, 2025

Places like this are a godsend,” Daryle says of the food pantry in Oshkosh that you help make possible. “It helps stretch out the food stamps.”

Now retired, Daryle has been coming to the Oshkosh Area Community Food Pantry for food since his children were small. Although he receives disability benefits in addition to food stamps, these days it’s simply not enough to make ends meet.

“You go to the store and buy two days’ groceries, and it’s like 150 bucks … especially when you’ve got teenagers,” he explains.

It’s not just the rising cost of food that’s made getting by more difficult. All of life’s essentials cost more these days, making life harder for families like Daryle’s.

“I live check to check … and barely make it,” he says. He sometimes finds himself, at the end of the month, having to make an agonizing decision: whether to spend his last few dollars paying a bill or purchasing food.

Grateful for supporters like you who enable his family to get the food they need, Daryle says, “I thank them a lot for doing this kind of stuff, because a lot of people wouldn’t be able to make it if they weren’t. Most of the people I know also come to the pantry.”

We’re grateful, too! Thank you so much for all that you do for your neighbors. You make our community a better, more compassionate place. Please don’t miss our Food for the Holidays match — every gift you make now has DOUBLE the impact!
