FarmShare Boxes Bridge the Gap for Families Facing Hunger

October 31, 2025

Hundreds of thousands of Wisconsinites are facing an unprecedented challenge as FoodShare benefits are delayed due to the government shutdown. For the 700,000 people who rely on FoodShare, and for our food pantry partners already serving record numbers of first-time visitors, this disruption means uncertainty, hardship, and empty plates across our communities.

That’s where the FarmShare Box Program comes in.

The FarmShare Box Program bridges the gap by connecting local farms with local families facing food insecurity. Each box is packed with fresh, Wisconsin-grown produce and distributed directly through our trusted hunger relief network across Eastern Wisconsin. Every box provides up to two weeks of healthy meals for a family in need, while also supporting local farmers who help nourish our communities.

This program was created to deliver immediate relief to families impacted by the delay in FoodShare benefits. It’s a tangible way to take action right now and help ensure families have access to the fresh, nutritious food they deserve.

How to Help

  • Donate a FarmShare box: Each box is $50 and provides fresh produce for a family for up to two weeks. Click HERE to donate a FarmShare box.
  • Choose your impact: You can select a specific county within our footprint for your donation, and we’ll deliver your box to one of our hunger relief partners serving families in that community. OR, select “where the need is greatest” if you prefer and we’ll direct your donation to our partners experiencing the largest influx of pantry participants.

Together, we can make sure no family faces hunger alone during this critical time.

The FarmShare Box Program is in partnership with the Wisconsin Food Hub Cooperative.
