  • Visit a participating market and bring your QUEST card to the market information booth.
  • Use your FoodShare or SNAP/EBT benefits at the market information booth.

What is Milwaukee Market Match?

Milwaukee Market Match is a nutrition incentive program that helps FoodShare/SNAP participants purchase more fresh fruits and vegetables at participating Milwaukee County Farmers Markets. Shoppers receive additional purchasing power through the program for up to $20.   

Who administers the Milwaukee Market Match program?

Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin coordinates the program in partnership with the City of Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, the State of Wisconsin, and participating Farmers Markets.  

What is the goal of the program?

The Milwaukee Market Match program increases access to healthy food, supports local farmers, strengthens local food systems, and makes eating healthier more affordable.   

Who can participate in Milwaukee Market Match?

Anyone using FoodShare/SNAP/Summer EBT can participate in a participating market. No separate application is required.   

What does a shopper need to bring to participate?

Shoppers must bring their physical QUEST card.

How does a shopper get Market Match incentives?

  • Visit a participating Farmers Market (click HERE to search nearby)
  • Go to the market information booth 
  • Use SNAP/FoodShare benefits 
  • Receive matching incentive dollars to spend on eligible produce

Do shoppers need to sign up ahead of time?

No. Participation happens directly at the market information booth.  

Is there a daily limit?

Yes. Incentives are limited per benefit card per market day. The daily incentive limit is $20. 

What can Milwaukee Market Match incentives be used for?

Milwaukee Market Match incentives can be used for eligible fruits, vegetables, herbs, and other approved locally grown produce.  

Can Milwaukee Market Match incentives be used for meat, eggs, dairy, baked goods, or prepared foods?

No. Milwaukee Market Match incentives are intended for eligible produce purchases. FoodShare/SNAP benefits have a broader use, but Milwaukee Market Match incentives are limited to approved produce items.   

Can Milwaukee Market Match be used with WIC or Senior FMNP vouchers?

No. Milwaukee Market Match is specifically tied to FoodShare/SNAP purchases. Those incentive programs are NOT matched via Milwaukee Market Match. 

Where should shoppers start when they arrive at the market?

They should visit the market information booth before shopping.  

Are all Farmers Markets in Milwaukee participating in this program?

No. Only approved participating Farmers Markets may offer Milwaukee Market Match. 

Is any personal identifying information collected from shoppers?

No. Staff should not request any personal identifying information from the shopper such as name, initials, SSN, date of birth, etc. 

Why are ZIP Codes collected?

ZIP Codes help evaluate where the program is reaching residents and supports reporting requirements.  

Are Milwaukee Market Match vouchers the same as cash?

No. Milwaukee Market Match vouchers are program currencies that must be tracked, distributed, and reconciled according to program procedures.  

Why do Farmers Markets have to sign up to receive Milwaukee Market Match vouchers?

Milwaukee Market Match vouchers are publicly funded and therefore require financial oversight, inventory control, and market compliance with program requirements. 

How are markets reimbursed?

Markets submit the required documentation and reimbursement requests according to program procedures and deadlines.   

Why is documentation required?

The program uses public and grant funding and must maintain auditable records for compliance and reimbursement purposes.
