The five members of the band Motel Breakfast stand in a doorway with a plant to their right. With everyone quarantined on the weekends, one local Milwaukee band found a new way to reach their fans at home. Motel Breakfast hosted a virtual concert through Facebook and Instagram Live to give the people who love them some entertainment from the comfort of their own couches.

Not only was the band looking to brighten everyone’s Saturday night, but they decided to make a difference while they did so. Motel Breakfast set out to raise money for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin with a goal of $250, which they drastically surpassed.

Mick O’Donnell, a volunteer program specialist at Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin’s Milwaukee food bank, and his four bandmates, Connor Brennan, Drue Devente, Jimmy Drenovsky, and Jesse Nasadowski, streamed a three-hour concert for their fans. To up the ante, the boys performed various tasks based on the donation amounts. The greater the donations that came in, the crazier the task, from buying Crocs to wear at their next show, to bleaching hair or shaving long luscious locks.

At the end of the night, Motel Breakfast raised over $5,000 for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.

“All of our shows had been cancelled due to the pandemic,” Mick explained. “We figured we would still play for all our fans on live stream, but we were going to raise money while we did it to help those in need.”

Thank you to Mick, Con, Drue, Jim and Jess from Motel Breakfast for raising over $5,000 to provide 15,000 meals for our neighbors facing hunger.
