Keeping Neighbors Fed During a Pandemic

As a result of the coronavirus, Yvonne lost her fast food job and has been struggling to make ends meet. So, she registered to receive help from the Amani Community Center Food Pantry, a member of the Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin network, situated inside the Greater Little Hill Church of God. Located right next door to the church is the Dominican Center, which on a sunny Tuesday morning hosted a mobile food pantry at the right place and the right time for Yvonne.

“Someone just told me about this a few minutes ago, and I’m so glad they did because now I have some good meat I’m going to eat,” she said.

The Dominican Center and Amani Community Center Food Pantry are working to offset the food desert that currently exists in the Amani neighborhood.

With grocery store prices increasing because of the coronavirus, Yvonne says she is thankful for the support she has received for herself, as well as for her adult son who recently moved out.

Thank you for stepping up for your community members in need, especially as many of them are struggling from job losses during this difficult time.
