“We Help All Students in Need”

Teachers and volunteers pack boxes to go into cars at the Watertown Mobile PantryTeachers know that if they expect their students to succeed in the classroom, they must make sure the children have food in their stomachs.

The faculty at Watertown High School (WHS) play an active role in making that happen. Every month — even during the summer when school is out — the high school hosts a mobile food pantry in partnership with Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin and YOU.

“We support any and all students if they are in need,” says Hillary Lobenstein, an English teacher who helps coordinate the mobile pantries.

The mobile pantries serve nearly 200 families a month and are open to the public in addition to students enrolled at the school. In addition to food, the pantry offers personal care items and new and gently used clothing, shoes, and coats.

“It’s amazing to watch how much the high school teachers love and care for their families, and how much the families appreciate it,” says Brooke Gonzalez, Special Programs Coordinator for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. “During the pandemic, they shifted from an in-person pantry to a curbside pantry, and it’s had an incredible response from the community.”

Students need nutritious meals year-round to stay healthy and to succeed in school. Your gifts help make that possible. Thank you.
