Stock the Shelves is back in 2022

Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, the USA Today NETWORK-Wisconsin and the Greater Fox Cities Chapter of Credit Unions are working towards the goal of providing 750,000 meals for Wisconsin families

MILWAUKEE, WI (October 30, 2022) – Stock the Shelves is a long-standing partnership between Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, the USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin, and the Greater Fox Cities Chapter of Credit Unions that raises money for food pantries in Eastern Wisconsin. Since 2010, the Stock the Shelves initiative has helped provide more than 15 million meals to neighbors in need.

The goal in 2022 is to add an additional 750,000 meals to that total.

“Our great partnerships that have led to the success of Stock the Shelves for more than a decade, are critical in providing meals for local families,” said Patti Habeck, President and CEO of Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. “We are thrilled to once again team up and combine resources to help reach a lofty goal while also raising awareness about the issue of food insecurity in our state.”

The Greater Fox Cities Chapter of Credit Unions is matching donated funds throughout the month of October, up to $50,000. Donations are also being accepted at Oshkosh Community Credit Union, Badger Globe Credit Union, Verve Credit Union, CoVantage Credit Union, Fox Communities Credit Union, PCM Credit Union, Capital Credit Union, Simplicity Credit Union, Winnebago Community Credit Union, Prospera Credit Union, Evergreen Credit Union, Thrivent Federal Credit Union, Health Care Credit Union and Unison Credit Union.

“Last year over $160,000 was raised through this program, providing over 650,000 meals to those in need,” said Andy Fisher, chief business executive for USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin. “Hunger has impacted and continues to impact many individuals and families throughout our communities, and this program provides an excellent opportunity to band together to help those in need.”

All partners involved in Stock the Shelves would also like to thank Mike and Mary Salsieder of Wausau for their generous donation of $10,000, bringing the total match amount to $60,000.

“There is such a great need within our communities to keep fighting against hunger, especially now with the inflated prices of goods,” said Nick Faber, President and CEO of Simplicity Credit Union. “This event is a perfect example of how the smallest contribution by each member of a larger group can make such a difference.  It is “people helping people,” the philosophy of Credit Unions, and Simplicity Credit Union is proud to be part of it.”
