Connecting the Community
Dear Friends,
In August of 1982, we received our first-ever donation: 600 pounds of apples from a local grower. We’ve come a long way in the four decades since then. Today, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin distributes about 60 million pounds of food per year!
That’s a LOT of apples . . . and so much more. All to say, there’s a buzz of excitement around our offices as we celebrate our 40th anniversary. I consider you a big part of that celebration. Because we wouldn’t be here without you.
Our state’s seniors are glad you’re here, too. Right now, about 1 in 12 seniors in Wisconsin doesn’t know where their next meal is coming from, and that number is expected to increase by 50% by 2025.
But thanks to your support, our senior neighbors will always have a place to turn in hard times. You’ll read some of their stories in this issue of Around the Table. And I hope you’ll be inspired to give another generous gift today. Every dollar provides four meals.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Patti Habeck, President & CEO
