“Overwhelmed with Gratefulness”

Tim recently retired and was applying for his social security benefits when someone suggested that he apply for FoodShare, Wisconsin’s version of Food Stamps. He was apprehensive at first because he had never applied for services like that before. “Through all the years I’ve been working, I always told myself, ‘You don’t need any help. You got this.’ Well I figured now is the time I need a little help,” explained Tim.

One of Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin’s FoodShare outreach specialists walked him through the entire application process. “With the way things are these days, it renewed my faith in the human race that there are people willing to help you like that. It felt like these people were in my corner – like they were truly looking out for me, and I’m not used to that.”

Tim was “overwhelmed with gratefulness” when he learned about additional services that he also qualified for. Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin’s outreach specialists will not only make sure people have access to food, but they will connect people with any other resource they may need. “I took some time to pray, reflect, and be thankful,” said Tim. “This has been a true blessing- such a huge help.”
