Mobile Pantry

For some, visiting a pantry once a month for groceries just isn’t enough, especially during the summer months when families may need more food support.

“For many of the families that have children that are on the reduced or free school meal programs, there are no replacements here in Ozaukee County,” Mark Gierach, executive director of the Saukville Community Food Pantry, said.  “The Mobile Pantries give these families access to another source of food that their children can use over the summer months, this is huge for our families.”

Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin and the Saukville Community Food Pantry have been hosting mobile pantries since 2014. Roughly 100 households from Ozaukee County went home with a cart full of groceries after visiting a mobile pantry on Tuesday, June 12. Underneath the Grady Park pavilion, volunteers smiled while handing out fresh fruit, rice, canned beans and more.

Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is partnering with the Saukville Community Food Pantry to host six mobile pantries from May to October in 2019.The next mobile pantry in Ozaukee County will be held on Tuesday, July 9 at Grady Park.
