Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin Receives Grant from SC Johnson

Racine, Wis. (April 7, 2023) Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is pleased to announce it has received a grant from SC Johnson to support a program that provides food to families facing hunger in Racine over the spring break period.

In Wisconsin, 1 in 5 children don’t know where their next meal is coming from. The grant from SC Johnson was used to supply food to students and families in need during the Racine Unified School District spring break time. Many students that depend on school meals will not have access to them during that time, and this program will fill that gap.

“There are certain pain points for families with children who are facing hunger. Spring break is one of them,” said Patti Habeck, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin President and CEO. “With this grant we will be able to ensure Racine families have healthy options while school is out.”

Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin sourced the boxes and the nutritious, kid friendly foods. SC Johnson volunteers built and filled the boxes before they were delivered to the local Racine pantry partner for distribution to the Racine Unified School District community during spring break (April 7-14).
