Most Saturday mornings you will find Warren Dugan helping sort food to ensure quality and safety. He has even taken on the volunteer role of helping lead larger groups. Warren attends Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin fundraising events, like the Grateful Plate Gala, but wants to see his contribution through to the end. To Warren, there is always more you can do to help neighbors living on the poverty line.

“When you write a check or place a bag of food into a donation bin, that might be the end of your involvement; you don’t see what happens after that,” explained Warren. “Volunteering at Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, you can see the fruits of your labor.”

Warren has been volunteering at the Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin Milwaukee food bank for nearly five years. Growing up, he remembers there were times when his family wasn’t far from turning to the local pantry for support. His past was what initially brought him close to the cause, but his present role as a credit manager at We Energies reminds him of the struggles so many families face when it comes time to choose between paying your bills and feeding your family.

“Over my 18 years at We Energies I have worked with customers that sometimes have to make very difficult choices with their money,” said Warren. “Knowing that organizations such as Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin exist can make the difference in not having to make those difficult choices.”
