Volunteer Spotlight: Bridget

Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin has been fortunate to depend on Bridget’s support for the past nine years. Bridget was introduced to the organization in 2010 when she became an intern in the development department while studying at Alverno College.

Now graduated, Bridget works in the nonprofit sector of Milwaukee in community affairs and fund development but still makes time to help sort food at Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin almost every Saturday.

“There is so much food in and out of the warehouse every day,” Bridget shared. “I truly feel like volunteering a few hours is helping move food out of the warehouse, getting closer to someone’s kitchen table.”

Not only does Bridget help get food into the hands that need it, but she also loves advocating and talking to people about Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin’s mission. “The amount of need that I continue to learn about by volunteering has allowed me to have conversations with people in the community about hunger,” Bridget said. “If someone can walk away from our conversation with a better understanding of what food banks and pantries do, I’m doing my job as a global citizen.”

In her free time, Bridget enjoys playing the cello with the UWM Community Orchestra and yoga. We are truly thankful for the time she has donated to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, and her dedication to helping others in the community.
