Third Grade Dollar Challenge Raises $14,000

A little boy sparked a tidal wave of donations when during lunchtime in the Woodland Elementary cafeteria he handed a friend’s mother a dollar and said, “Mrs. Slinger, if you use this dollar the right way, you could feed the entire world.”

Wanting to show Greyson the power of his words, Angela Slinger started a Facebook fundraising campaign for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. His story quickly spread and in the end, the fundraiser raised $14,302 with donations pouring in from all 50 states.

“I knew I had to do something to try and feed the world,” explained Angela. “My daughter had volunteered at the food bank and it felt good to know that the money raised could buy food in bulk that would be distributed to the local community.”

Thanks to Angela, Greyson and nearly 800 donors, we will be able to provide 3,339 meals to our local community! Click here to view the story covered by NBC26.
