A Holiday Distribution Spotlight

On the Monday before Christmas, a special holiday distribution took place at The Lord’s Cupboard in Oconomowoc, one of Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin’s member pantries.

Located outside St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, guests arrived and received their regular food from the pantry along with an extra Christmas dinner food bag. The bag included food for a holiday meal and a gift card to purchase supplemental food for the long weekend. There was also an additional warm meal for families to take home that very evening.

Long-time volunteer, Lynn, understands that keeping up with the holiday hustle and bustle can be hard for some families– especially families with many small children. Lynn explained that every child should have at least one present they want for Christmas. Before the distribution, families were able to request presents from the church. Willing members of the congregation were able to purchase and donate presents with a child specifically in mind.

Lynn went on to explain what she loves most about volunteering at The Lord’s Pantry: “I love the community! It’s the community of the volunteers and all the people who make this possible like donors. It’s the community of organizations like Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin who we work with. It’s the community of the people who come to the pantry. They are all people we know; anyone can run into a situation where they might need help. Through this pantry, we are building a community that needs one another to be successful.”

St. Paul’s also worked with a local business in the Oconomowoc community, Tinus Marine, to collect ‘cozy’ donations. More than 150 stuffed animals, 108 blankets, 73 coats, and an assortment of hats, mittens, and scarves were gifted to keep heads and hearts warm.

A huge thank you goes out to the Lord’s Cupboard and Tinus Marine for spreading holiday cheer and blessings.
