BMO Volunteer Day

Every June, BMO Financial Group hosts an annual BMO Volunteer Day which gives employees the opportunity to dedicate time within their workday to a cause that’s important to them. Roughly 50 BMO employees selected Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin as their organization of choice to give back to.

Not only did they sort food, which is the usual task given to volunteers, but they also helped with side projects that staff hadn’t had the time to accomplished.

“We really enjoyed having BMO come volunteer with us,” Julie Novak, the volunteer engagement coordinator for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, said. “They helped us complete special projects that we have been wanting to do for months. They were able to get through all of the projects and also sort through 24,000 pounds of meat all within one day.  They put so much care and effort into everything that they did.”

The food bank recently received a grant from BMO to spruce up the volunteer entrance with flowers and garden planters. BMO volunteers put the planters together and planted herbs and vegetables which are now located right outside the building. Volunteers also applied protective sealant to picnic tables where volunteers can sit in the summer. Volunteers also painted a chalkboard wall, with paint generously donated by Sherwin-Williams, where future volunteers can take photos and share their experience on social media. Lastly, the volunteers kept their momentum going and sorted roughly 24,000 pounds of meat.

We truly appreciate the support from local companies like BMO and their employees who donate their time to help those in the community that are facing hunger. Click here if you’d like to get involved by volunteering or make a financial donation.
